Hand/Elbow Injuries
Fractures
Fractures around the elbow and hand are very common. Often they are treated with immobilization or casting. Certain cases may require surgical repair. Our surgeons employ the latest generation of low profile, minimally invasive implants. These devices can shorten recovery time and improve the likelihood of successful fracture healing.
Tendonitis
Commonly affects the tendons of the elbow, forearm, and wrist. These conditions are usually treated with anti-inflammatory medications, physical therapy, immobilization, and injections. Refractory cases may require surgical debridement and repair.
Nerve Disorders
Cubital Tunnel Syndrome
Ulnar nerve irritation at the elbow which can cause pain from the elbow to the 4th and 5th digits in the hand.
Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
Median nerve irritation at the wrist caused by overuse and occupational hazards. Pain can affect the entire extremity but most commonly at the level of the wrist extending to the fingers.
Treatments include occupational/physical therapy, bracing, and injections. Nerve conduction tests are often ordered and can help confirm the diagnosis. Surgery can alleviate the symptoms and is recommended when conservative options fail.
Wrist Arthroscopy
Minimally invasive surgical option for injuries which involve the ligaments, tendons, and bones in the wrist. Arthroscopy utilizes image enhancement to diagnose and treat complex injuries of the wrist.
